The Special Category Co-educational English School set up at Keishamthong High School for the first time in the State on trial basis to impart quality education to the students has been formally inaugurated by Education Minister L Jayantakumar today.
The Special School has been set up by the Education Department of the State Government along with appointment of specially trained teachers to impart quality education and produce student toppers.

Speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function, Education Minister L Jayantakumar announced that similar schools would also be opened in other districts of the State from the next academic session.
The students who have been admitted to the Special School were selected after a gruelling written test conducted by the Education Department and the Government would be providing 50 percent concession on purchasing the uniform of the students, the Minister further announced.
The Minister also expressed desire for conducting Yoga and Moral Science classes for the students of the school every Saturday.
In all 38 students have been admitted in Class VI, 33 in Class VII, 39 in Class VIII, 33 in Class IX and 32 in Class X of the special school whose first session began from today.
Conduct of weekly test, terminal examination, parents' meet, inter-house events, pre-board examination of the Class X students and compulsory computer classes are claimed to be advantages that the newly opened Special Category English School of the Government will have over other Government schools.
In his address, Commissioner of Education (S) Sambhu who presided over the function observed that in view of the mushrooming of private schools in every nook and corner of the State it would be advisable to limit the number of schools being granted recognition as a policy of the Government.
Director of Education (S) M Harekrishna was also present at the occasion.
Delivering the key note address, he announced that common question examination of all the schools under the State Board would be conducted.
