A four-day workshop on writing of short story organised by the Naharol Sahitya Premi Samiti under the aegis of the North Eastern Zone Cultural Centre, Dimapur and state department of art and culture kicked off here at Artiste Cum Dormitory, Palace Compound today.
The workshop aimed at influencing short writers of the state for writing quality short stories.
Commissioner (art and culture, P Bharat, Saihtya Academy winner N Kunjamohon graced the inauguration function of the workshop as chief guest and guest of honour respectively.
Prof Th Ratankumar of Manipur University and prof Shantanu Phukan of Cotton College, Guwahati also attended as guests of honour of the function.
Speaking on the occasion, commissioner P Bhorot observed that with the changing of time, people reading big book are reducing as they are busy.
Writers need to engage in creative works and writing short stories with condense words.
He also talked on the role of the writers in saving life of the people after reading books exploring the role of the writers in deciding the status of the society they are living.
President of the function N Kunjamohon also observed importance of the writers in the society.
Writers could express life in the true sense and in finding true way of life, short stories help a lot.
Good short stories could influence life of the people, he added.
