Normal functioning of State Assembly Secretariat has been affected with the abduction of Joint Director Akoijam Tiken by unidentified persons on Rs 1 crore ransom demand.
Suspending all their normal duties, Assembly staff under the banner of Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat Employees Association (MLASEA) has been staging sitting demonstration daily from 12:30 pm to 3:30.The demonstration which demands the safe release of Tiken continued today as well.
Tiken was picked up by the unknown youths from his Mantripukhri residence on December 12 at around 3:30 pm.
Employees of the Assembly Secretariat in a meeting held on December 14 resolved to continue the protest until the Joint Director is released.
Meanwhile, the Hill Areas Committee, Manipur Legislative Assembly in a meeting held today expressed shock over the abduction of Akoijam Tiken.
The committee appealed to those involved in the abduction to release him safe and sound immediately on humanitarian ground.
The committee also expressed solidarity in the sit-in-protest launched by the staff of the Assembly Secretariat.
