On the second day of inspection of projects and schemes undertaken in the state under the Special Plan Assistant (SPA) of the Centre, the visiting team of the Planning Commission today inspected the site for construction of the Integrated Check Post at Moreh.
Member of Planning Commission of India (North East) BK Chaturvedi along advisor (SP-NE) of Planning Commission SN Brohmo Choudury arrived accompanied by Shrimati Chaturvedi also visited the Thoubal Project after the Moreh visit.
They flew by helicopter for their visits.
Our Moreh Correspondent reported that the team arrived in Moreh at 8.45 am by helicopter where they were received by officials of the state government including additional DGP (L&O) V Zathang, Chandel DC H Deleep and CO of 31 Assam Rifles Raav Roop Singh.

On arrival, the team proceeded to Moreh gate no.1 (Water Point) where the site for construction of ICP is located.
They inspected the construction of approach roads to the ICP upto the international border with Myanmar and other inter-village roads.
Talking to the team members, the CO of 31 AR informed that earlier there were only six villages but now it has been increased to around 50 since BRO improved the road condition alongside with the commencement of border fencing work at the border area.
The team also inspected the Custom's office near gate no.1 where they interacted with the officials posted there.
After about 20 minutes of interaction, the team inspected the bridge across Lokchao river demarcating the international border with Myanmar.
They also inspected water routes where petty international trade is carried out by the villagers of both countries.
It was followed by an inspection of the Moreh Hospital.
Chaturvedi held interactions with officials of the hospital and took stock of the shortage in infrastructure among others in the hospital.
The inspection was followed by a meeting at Moreh Convention hall with traders and businessmen.
From the state government side, officials like additional DGP, V Zathang, principal secretary (trade and commerce), O Nabakishore, Chandel DC Deleep and director of Commerce and Industries V Tualthang participated in the meeting.
CO of AR Raav Roop Singh, Dushyant Singh of 25 BRTF (TAMU), BP Misra, commander of 25(BRTF), and president of Border Trade Chamber of Commerce V Shekher Srukyakhi were others who attended the meeting.
The meeting mainly discussed the present cross border trade scenario with Myanmar.
O Nabakeshor made a power point presentation of the cross border trade at Moreh.
The visit of the Planning Commission team will conclude tomorrow.
Before leaving Imphal for New Delhi in the afternoon, the team will inspect construction of Capital Project (Assembly and High Court), Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Kangla Fort, JNIMS etc.
and witness the Kut Festival at 1st Manipur Rifles parade ground.
