Imphal, November 30 2009:
Manipur Hill Journalists' Union (MHJU) condemned in the strongest term the high-handedness of a Major of 3 AR who allegedly threatened the editor of Lamka Post on the night of November 28 at the office of the newspaper with dire consequence over the publication of a press release.
A statement issued by the MHJU strongly objected the abusive and undemocratic language used by the particular AR officer to the members of the media fraternity.
It stated that accusing the media fraternity of having link with undergrounds has been seriously viewed by the union.
Terming the threat as undemocratic, the statement asserted that claiming as ardent Friends of the Hill People but threatening and using abusive languages to them is deceitful and incomprehensible.
