A youth centre constructed by 36 Assam Rifles under the supervision of 59 Mountain Brigade was handed over to the local people in a function held at Kangpokpi today.
59 Mountain Brigade Commander Brig Anil Chauhan unveiled the inauguration stone of the youth centre and handed over the key of the centre to the Chairman of Kangpokpi Urban Town Committee, Haukleon Guite in the function.
Speaking at the occasion, Brig Anil Chauhan expressed hope that the youth centre, which has a library, hostel, museum, IT centre and football ground, would enlighten the minds of the youths of the area.
He also said that the youth centre would not only groom budding sportspersons but also impart computer training in its training centre.
Haukleon Guite while speaking in the function conveyed gratitude to the Mountain Brigade for taking up the project in the town.
He said that the youth centre with its multifarious facilities would help in weaning away the youths from violence and constructively channelise their energy towards a progressive future.
