Meetei Erol Euek Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) in association with Kanglei Khorcheikon today organized a painting competition for school going children at the office of the MEELAL head office.
A opening function of the painting competition was attended among others by advisor, Sumang Leela Council Dr M Nara, president MEELAL Ngasepam Yumjao, president, Kanglei Khorjeikon James Khongbantabam and advisor, All Manipur Recognized Private Schools Welfare Association, N Tomba.
Speaking on the occasion, M Nara said a little painting work gives a vast message.
So talented children interested in field should be well culture to able to expose their hidden talents.
He also expressed the need of efforting for development of one's own language and scripts.
President, Kanglei Khorjeikon, James said, the first state level painting competition was held as a part of foundation day of the Khorjeikon.
Prizes to the position holder competitors will be distributed on the foundation day of the body which falls on April 8. Speaking on the occasion, president, MEELAL, Yumjao said that without competition, there cannot be development.
Competitors participating in such events should try their best to win.While stating that for development of the indigenous scripts, a collective effort is a must, he appealed the people to make their contributions in developing the indigenous Meetei scripts leaving behind using borrow scripts.
He also observed that if the art of painting was not, there may not the scripts of a language.
Results of the competition which was held in two categories, class-III to V and class VI to VIII were also announced after the competition was over.
In the Class III to V category, the first position went to Anoubam Boom of uripok Polem Polem Leikai representing Heritage Convention, second position went to Derek Nahakpam of Thangmeiband Yumnam Leikai of Eagle High School and Chongdam Kurangnayenni of Bethel High School.
Seven students taking part in the competition were also announced for giving consolation prizes.
The first position of the class VI to VIII category went to Naoroibam Anand of Eagle H/S, Deulahland, second went to Sukham Thoihenbi of Catholic School, Canchipur and third position went to Vijaykumar Ayekpam of Heritage Convention, Uripok.
Seven other students of the category will also given consolation prizes on the day of prize distribution to be held on April 8.
