Imphal, March 29 2009:
A total of 800 civilians including women and children were given general medical checkup, administered medicines and given a lecture on health and hygiene at a free medical camp organised by 16 MARATHA LI at Saiton Government High School in Churachandpur district today.
The medical camp was organised at the request of residents of Saiton and surrounding villages.
According to information received from the Army, the medical camp evoked overwhelming response from the general public.
Saiton village has a public health centre, but is seldom visited by the doctors and does not have the basic medicines.
The residents of Saiton have to proceed to Churachandpur for getting treatment of their ailments.
According to the information, the medical camp provided much needed relief to all the residents of Saiton village and adjoining villages.
Meira Paibees of the Saiton village were thankful to the army for providing a lady doctor and a nurse in the medical camp and a lot of ladies have benefited from this camp.
Meira Paibees were also thankful to the Army for bringing normalcy in the area and promised full support towards the army from their side.
The village Pradhan, Ibunou thanked the Army for taking genuine interest in the welfare and development of the area.
