Commemorating 175th anniversary of Assam Rifles, IGAR (S) Mantripukhri organised a 'run for peace' programme today.
The run taken part by the school children of Assam Rifles Nodal School, Mantripukhri was flagged off from two different locations.
The first run was flagged off by Hqs IGAR (S) Deputy GOC Brig Ajay Raina at Koirengei old airfield.
Even as the children reached their destination at the playground of 39 Assam Rifles of IGAR (S) garrison, Mantripukhri, another run was flagged off from the same location by Assam Rifles Wives Welfare Association (ARWWA) President Sandhya Krishnan.
The children were joined and motivated by their Principal, teachers, school staff and Assam Rifles Officers in the run.
They were well encouraged by the melodious martial tunes of the pipe band contingent of 39 Assam Rifles.
5 Assam Rifles also organised a 'run for peace' at Jiribam to commemorate the 175th years of establishing Assam Rifles, reports our Jiribam correspondent.
The run was flagged off by ADC Jiribam Y Iboyaima in the presence of second in command Lt Col UC Kaundal and Major Siddhartha of 5 Assam Rifles.
Around 200 school children from different schools of Jiri participated in the run.
