TAKING SERIOUS note over the hardship faced by the people of Manipur due to the ongoing economic blockade imposed along the National Highway (NH) 39 by the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA), the Manipur Peoples' Party (MPP) today urged the government to resolve the matter with the agitating students.
MPP president, Dr L Chandramani while speaking in a press conference held at MPP office at the sideline of the announcement of former councilors joining the party as a preparation for the upcoming Lok Sabha election, asserted that necessary help to resolve the economic blockade matter, the doors of MPP is always open.
The MPP president urged the government to resolve the matter at the earliest and further appealed both sides to understand the hardship faced by the public because of the blockade.
Former Union Minister Th.Chaoba also stated that the protest taken up by the SDSA is the first of its kind in the country and a genuine demand.
He added that the matter is a serious one.
Chaoba further said that the condition of the NH-39, which is also the lifeline of the state is in a pitiable condition comparing to the other states, as it is never being improved.
He further added that the people of the state ought to know the whereabouts of the funds given for the improvement of the NH-39, through the Right to Information (RTI).
Chaoba also stated that the matter of the All Manipur Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayat Councilors joint action committee to boycott the Lok Sabha Election is a serious matter and cannot be taken lightly.
