Imphal, March 27 2011:
The United People's Party of Kangleipak (UPPK) has categorically refuted any connection whatsoever between the party and Amom Rajesh alias Raju Singh (18) s/o A Pishak of Wangoo Tera and Laishram Thoi alias Tomba s/o L Ranjit of Wangoo Chairen Sabal.
Amom Rajesh and Laishram Thoi surrendered to the IG AR (S) and the DGP as UPPK cadres.
Moreover, the two 9 mm pistols, two magazines and 11 live rounds they reportedly laid down did not belong to the UPPK or the KP Army, said a press release issued by the outfit's information and publicity department secretary in-charge Khuman Laishramcha.
However, five cadres ran away from the party's Heikhol base camp on December 18 last year taking along with them a large number of arms and ammunition.
The deserters identified as Seilung Mang alias Hallakpa (25) s/o Seilung Ngun of Makokchung, Nagaland, Md Ningkhaipham Salam Khan alias Naobi (25) s/o Md N Kuttuk Khan of Bishnupur Ward No II, Ahanthem Jason Singh alias Meikappa (20) s/o A Angousana of Sawombung Gate, Sanasam David alias Thoupuba (25) s/o late S Shamu of Sawombung Gate and Md P Thalak Khan alias Wathoiba (21) s/o Md P Amu Khan of Bishnupur Ward No II surrendered to 29 AR in the morning of December 19 last year, the outfit disclosed.
The outfit further questioned the motive of Assam Rifles in keeping the real surrender a secret while deceiving and forcing innocent civilians to enact surrender drama.
