The Governor of Manipur and many other social organisations have congratulated MC Mary Kom, the first woman boxer to win the World titles consecutively for three years and L Sarita for winning the Gold Medal in the 4th World Women�s Boxing Championship which concluded at New Delhi yesterday.
A congratulatory message of Governor Dr SS Sidhu released by Governor�s Secretariat, Raj Bhavan today said their outstanding achievements have made both India and Manipur very proud.
Their endeavours must be supported by all concerned, including the State Government, the message said, while extending best wishes to the two women boxers for their excellent performance in the championships.
Describing them as the �two golden women of the Manipur Police Department�, the DGP and all ranks of the Department have also appreciated their gold winning feats at the 4th World Women Boxing Championship held at New Delhi from November 17 to 24. They have brought prestige not only to the Police Department but also to the country by winning world championship titles in their respective weight category, secretary of Manipur Police Sports Club M Rachandra Singh said in a statement.
While congratulating the two women boxers, Kom Literature Committee has also expressed its gratitude to the SPF Govt led by O Ibobi for having extended financial assistance to both Mary Kom and Sarita thereby enabling them excel themselves and clinch the world crowns in boxing.
NCP, Manipur Pradesh and AISF, Manipur State Council have also congratulated Mary Kom and Sarita.
