Imphal, November 24:
Expressing strong resentment against the continued detention of MSF functionaries, All Manipur Govt Aided College Teachers Association has fervently appealed to the State authorities to release the student activists without any conditions at the earliest in order to facilitate smooth resumption of normal academic activities.
The Association, in a release, contended that any person/s arrested in connection with agitation should be released without any conditions if agreement is reached on the particular issue over which the agitation was launched.
Observing that staunch stance adopted by the SPF Govt to ceaseless demands for release of the detained student activists reflect strong arm tactics of the ruling front, the teachers body cautioned that any decision against the will and aspiration of the people would be detrimental in the long run.
As the MSF functionaries were arrested and jailed for their involvement in agitation demanding restoration of normal academic chores in aided colleges whose functioning were derailed owing to the cease-work strike of the aided college teachers, the arrested student activists should be set free as the impasse had been settled amicably, maintained the body.
Meanwhile, MSF has reiterated its demand for unconditional release of the detained MSF functionaries failing which Congress MLAs and candidates for the forthcoming Assembly polls would be targeted.
Reminding that its ban imposed on tax collection by relevant department and poll campaign restriction against the Congress organisation is still in force, MSF asked Congress functionaries and workers to voluntarily remove party signboards.
