Objection has been raised against selection of only 26 nurses out of 48 ANM nurses appointed on contract basis through employement exchanges in 2004 in the written test conducted for recruitment of 50 new nurses on regular posts in the Family Welfare Department recently.
Talking to media, former secretary general Association of 48 ANM Nurses on Contract Basis, Family Welfare Department S Romila said 48 ANM nurses were appointed in the Family Welfare Department on contract basis in July 2004 through the employment exchanges.
However, out of 48 ANM nurses, only 26 nurses were selected in the written test conducted this year for recruitment of 50 new nurses on regular posts in the Department, she said.
Objecting to selection of only 26 nurses in the written test, Romila explained that as there was ban on recruitment, the nurses have been appointed on contract basis and the services extended for the second time for 11 months till January, 2006. However, after January 31, the Director of Family Welfare disclosed that the there would be no more service extension and they have to apply for regular posts.
Subsequently, the Chief Minister also assured that the 48 ANM nurses appointed on contract basis just have to sit in the written test to be conducted for appointment of 50 nurses on regular posts.
According, all of them sat for the written test, but when the results were declared only 23 of them have been selected while leaving out the rest.
Romila demanded that the viva voce of the recruitment process should be put on halt before considering the case of of those left out ANM nurses appointed on contract basis in the Department.
