Delhi Dazzlers earned a hard-fought 1-0 win over Imphal Rangers to post their second victory in their bid to avoid relegation in the First Division Premier Hockey League here today.
In a match that failed to rise to any great heights, both teams missed a lot of chances.
The Imphal Rangers forward-line, comprising Brojen Singh, Chittaranjan and Hera Singh, failed to provide finishing touches to some of the good moves.
However, their defenders Tomba Singh and Jayanta Singh kept them in the game thwarting many a rival raid.
In the seventh minute, Imphal earned a penalty corner.
Regular flicker Jayanta Singh played a dummy and Laiba Singh took the first shot but the Delhi rusher blocked it.
Immediately, Delhi launched a counter-attack but an Ajitpal Singh cross went abegging.
However, Delhi took the lead in the 12th minute.
Midfielder Harwinder Singh sent a long through ball to Ajitpal Singh on top of the circle.
Ajitpal cut into the circle and passed it to his right.
With Imphal custodian Herojit Singh charging out, Kulwinder Singh dived to slap the ball into the open goal.
After seven matches, Delhi has six points while Rangers with five are at the bottom.
