Imphal, June 20: Top seed and defending champion Vikramjit outclassed Dhaneshor on the opening day of the 14th Kh Anou Singh Memorial state Level Open Chess Tournament at Kwakeithel Boys Junior High School today.

The opening ceremony of the tournament organized by Kwakeithel Chess Club and participated by 44 players was held with former Minister L Jayantakumar Singh as chief guest, while Principal (Retd) Dr L Manihar Singh and Manipur Chess Association chief patron Ch Shyamjai Singh were the president and guest of honour respectively.

Prominent players to record win on the opening day include former champion Mochabi and rated players RK Bhogen and Bhupendranath.
