EC rolls off process for Konthoujam by poll

Imphal, June 21: A high level meeting chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner TS Krishnamurthy will be convened in New Delhi on June 23 to finalize the tentative date fixed by the Commission for the by elections in Konthoujam A/C and some constituencies in Maharashtra, disclosed a highly placed source.

It may be noted here that ECI had fixed September as the tentative month for conducting the by election in Konthoujam Assembly Constituency and some constituencies of Maharashtra.

Sources further informed that Manipur will be represented by the State's Chief Electoral Officer V Chibber in the meeting.

Meanwhile, sources also informed that Congress will be putting up either Sapam Budhi or Soraisam Ibobi for the by election in Konthoujam A/C.
