A government press release today said Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has asked Mizoram chief minister Zoramthanga to continue as India's emissary for peace between the union government and the Naga rebels.
Meeting the prime minister at his 1, Race Course Road official residence on Monday, Zoramthanga congratulated the prime minister for holding the top post of the country and discussed several issues pertaining to the state and the North East region with him.
During the course of the meeting, the prime minister discussed the Naga issue with Zoramthanga telling him that he had kept a close watch on his endeavor to bring peace to the region, especially to Nagaland.
The prime minister told him that his government would like him to continue as the peace emissary.
"I am inviting you to continue to talk to the Naga (IM) rebels and we have every hope that you would succeed in your mission.
