Imphal, June 20: SEYO, Singjamei Wangma Kshetri Leikai downed its arch rival Cosmo, Wangkhei defended its title of the L Dinachandra Memorial Division I Hockey Tournament 2004.In the final of the 5th edition today at Khuman Lampak Hockey Stadium, Th Gopal opened the score account for the champions with a penalty stroke conversion in the 17th minute.

After skipper K Biramani had restored parity for the Wangkhei side with a 25 minute penalty corner conversion, Ksh Jimkely (61st) and S Banerjee (69th PC) slotted in one goal each to put the match beyond doubt for SEYO.

Cosmo could have made a comeback to the match but erratic marksmanship and strong vigil by the SEYO defenders ensured the title win for the latter with ease.

The winners received Rs 8000 cash besides the trophy while Cosmo had to be satisfied with Rs 5000 second prize.

Transport, Science & Technology Minister T Manga Vaiphei graced the closing ceremony as chief guest while Family Welfare Minister Bijoy Koijam and YAS Commissioner S Buddhachadra attended as president and guest of honour respectively.
