Presentation of simple gifts marked the reception function organised by Janaki Barbell Club, Singjamei Mayengbam Leikai today to accord warm welcome to Sorokhaibam joyshini who bagged the top prize in 5.2 feet category of the inaugural Women Fitness Championship held at Jallandhar of Punjab from Feb 11 till 13.Body builder of yesteryears Chatukini, JBC president Th Gokulchand and Secretary (organisation) of Indian Body Building Federation Kh Ningthem were the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Saying that Jean Claude van Damme starrer 'Double Impact' had inspired her to take up body building, Joshini confided that her next goal would be to excel at international level competitions.
Having joined JBC after watching Janaki memorial body building competition in a local television network and imparted training on finer aspect of body building by the gym instructor T Bisworjit, the fitness freak had also represented manipur in national level kabaddi championship and zonal weightlifting meet.
Maintaining that her interest in body building grew stronger despite being an able athlete in other sports, Joshini confessed of her ignorance on women body building competition and owed her recent success to close monitoring of her training schedules by Bishworjit for about 30 days prior to the Jallandhar competition.
Joshini, studying at Kakching College in class XII, is the third child of S Sobha of Lamding Cherapur, Wangjing.
