Imphal, February 22:
The long over due and much awaited DPC for filling up 13 vacant posts of MPS officers was conducted by the Manipur Public Service Commission on February 20.Twenty six eligible police officers in the rank of Inspectors (Police) and Subedars (MR) participated in the DPC.
The Commission held the DPC with two senior officials, one each from the Civil Secretariat and from the Police Department, a highly placed source informed The Sangai Express.
After minutely going through the necessary files such as the service record ACRS and others, the committee selected 13 names to be promoted to the rank of MPS Grade II posts.
The DPC list along with the names of the recommended candidates have been submitted to the State Government for final approval, said the source further.
Earlier, the eligible candidates had come out strongly against the MPSC for the undue delay in holding the DPC although 26 officials were eligible to appear for the DPC.
Moreover there was a shortage of MPS officers in the Police Department as well as Manipur Rifles.
The State Home Department had directed the MPSC to conduct the DPC in November last year itself.
