After his return from the 55th Westminster Seminar, Dr M Nara during a press briefing held today at the committee room of Manipur Legislative Assembly, recounted of his proposal in the seminar for more cultural programmes during Commonwealth Games to which the Commonwealth Parliamentarians Association (CPA) expressed their agreement.
The seminar organised by the UK branch of CPA at Westminster, UK from March 6 to 17 invited only two delegates from the country which included Dr Manirrudin Sheikh.
Dr Nara took part in the seminar on behalf of Dr Sheikh.
To another proposal by Dr Nara for a seminar exclusively for women parliamentarians of Commonwealth countries, the CPA agreed to organise such a seminar, disclosed Dr Nara.
While addressing the seminar, Dr Nara introduced himself saying that he came from the State which was annexed latest to the then British empire in Indian sub-continent.
He came from the land where the game of polo originated.
Dr Nara further conveyed of the well maintenance of many buildings constructed by British officials by Manipur Government, he recounted.
The seminar featured serious deliberations and analysis on several topics including process for succession of legislators, role of ruling and opposition parties and matters related women parliamentarians, informed Dr Nara.
