Sub-Inspector in the State Police Department, N Kumar who went home in a car (Wagon R) belonging to a friend of his on the night of March 16 still remains untraced.
According to information received by the press, Nongthongbam Kumar of Thoubal Sabal Tongba was posted at Tamenglong police HQs and his family quarter was allotted at Lamphel.
On the night of March 16, after taking dinner at the home of one Maibam Ashok of Kwakeithel, he took the car of Oinam Dillip of Polem Leikai and went home at around 9 pm.
With the recovery of the car taken by Kumar from a gorge at Ngarian hills under Irilbung PS, police have lunched a massive man hunt for Kumar in many suspected places.
The mother of the Sub-Inspector has fervently appealed to all concerned to release her son.
Appealing for clemency, the mother in a statement urged all the concerned to give her son one more chance to rectify his mistakes, if any on humanitarian ground.
Kumar is the sole bread earner in the family, the mother pleaded and appealed to the organisations concerned to release her son if he is in their custody.
Meanwhile it is reported that a complaint on missing Kumar has been lodged at Singjamei PS yesterday by his younger brother N Rameshwar.
The Sabantongba Kangjeibung Leikai Meira Paibi Women Development Association has also fervently appealed for the safe release of the missing police official.
In a statement, the Association said that Kumar supported the whole family and appealed to the concerned to take note of the plight of the family members and his dependants and to release him on humanitarian ground.
