Village Mobile Team Task Force of People�s United Liberation Front (PULF) has reportedly awarded capital punishment to a person who had been extorting a huge amount of money from the people with the help of xerox copies of the letter heads of the party on October 27.The extortionist who had been punished for his crime was identified as Md Shaheed Ahmed (29) s/o Md Ismail of Yairipok Ngarian.
Yairipok Police personnel recovered the body of Shaheed Ahmed from Kak-mayai Lamkhai yesterday.
There were bullet marks on his head.
Before carrying out the execution, the accused was paraded in front of mediapersons somewhere in Senapati district on October 27.Spokesperson of the proscribed outfit Shikander Ali detailed mediapersons on the crimes committed by Shaheed Ahmed.
According to the spokesperson, with the help of photostat copies of the demand letter heads of PULF, Shaheed Ahmed had extorted Rs 20,000 from one Md Ibothem of Yairipok Shanta Bazar and served a demand letter of Rs 3 lakhs to one Md Habibur of Yairipok Toupokpi by forging the signature of the deputy finance secretary of the outfit Mutibur.
Subsequently, he was arrested by commander of Village Mobile Task Force.
Shaheed was not only in the habit of abusing drugs and other intoxicants, but also misused the name of PULF in terrorising the people and looting them, the spokesperson further charged.
The spokesman clarified that one Chaoba who is being pursued by the police in connection with the execution of Keirao Gram Panchayat Pradhan Md Abdul Kalam has no connection with the outfit in any way.
Chaoba is a rickshaw driver, the spokesman said.
The spokesman also asked one Md Yahiya alias Ibungo (24) s/o Md Lahel of Thoubal Moijing Wangma who has been absconding since October 20 to escape punishment by the outfit for drug peddling, and secretary of Urup-Keirao Kyamgei Jeep Taxi Drivers� Association Md Hasimuddin to surrender to the outfit within five days or else face dire consequences.
