Lack of adequate fund to develop required infrastructures, insufficient manpower and resource to equip them with sophisticated arms and modern gadgets have been cited as main handicap in counter insurgency operation.
This was disclosed by Director General of Police AK Parashar, IPS while addressing media persons on the sideline of display of arms and equipments seized by the police till January this year at Bishnupur District Police Headquarters.
The police officer encouraged and appreciated the courage of the State police and commandos in fighting the insurgents despite various odds working against them.
The DGP observed that any police personnel who go against the well-established police discipline should be punished and any disagreement between officials and their subordinates be resolved through negotiations.
The DGP also presented a reward of Rs 50,000 to the police personnel and commandos of Bishnupur district on the occasion.
The arms and ammunition displayed during the function include one A-4 Rifles fitted with UBGL, one AK-57 Rifles, three AK-47 Rifles, one M-16 Rifle, one SMC carbine, six 9 mm pistols, one .39 revolver and a .32 pistol.
Among the bombs and shells, there were 34 Lethode bombs, two 36-HE grenades, one RPG Rocket shell and five Chinese made hand grenades.
Over and above these, there were 810 rounds of ammunition and 24 magazines among the display.
