Imphal, December 27: Like in other sessions at different parts of Manipur, a public meeting held at Moidang-pok today endorsed the assertion that ongoing Manipur-India conflict should be resolved by holding a plebiscite under the supervision of the United Nations.

The meeting was jointly organised by 17 civil societies of Imphal West (I) under the banner of Committee for Plebiscite at the Ibudhou Koirouhanba Shanglen where resolutions were unanimously adopted to seek UN intervention in solving the vexed issue as well as submission of the public deci- sion to the office of UN and members of the international communities.

Speaking on the occasion AMWJU president Bijoy Kakchingtabam and executive director of Human Rights Alert Babloo Loitongbam recalling events leading to the annexation of the then independent Manipur in 1949, different form of atrocities under which the people are reeling, economic disparity observed that plebiscite had become inevitable to enable the general public express their viewpoints and decide their own fate.
