Imphal, December 27: Reacting to a statement made by AE, N Gunadhaja in a local daily, the Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur has urged the authority concerned to institute a fact finding committee to find out the ground reality concerning the implementation of ACA programme 2004-05 at Tamenglong.

In a statement issued, the student body observed that the work order for the programme was issued on March 24, 2005 and full payment for the work was made in the last week of the same month.

It questioned the feasibility and credibility of completing such works within the short period of one month.

Alleging the bill amount was withdrawn by the contractors in connivance with the engineers, it appealed to all the departments concerned in Tamenglong district to work sincerely and to handle the ACA programme 2004-05 for construction of ADC office at Kuilong and SDO residential quarters at Tousem without misappropriation and to complete the works within the stipulated period.

In a similar vein, the Liangmai Naga Students' Union, Tousem HQs and Liangmai Naga Students' Union Kui-long Zone reacting to the statement of N Gunadhaja, remarked that the work under ACA programme was executed and completed on their table but not in the field.

Calling for an inquiry committee, the student bodies in a joint statement appealed to the State Government to be vigilant against the misadventures of PWD engineers.
