SF debunks UNLF's claim

Guwahati, December 27: Reacting to the accusations of the proscribed UNLF that it is the Indian security force which has been laying landmines, the PRO of IGAR (South) in a statement today said that the accusation is baseless and is meant to misguide the public.

The PRO said that after suffering reverses in recent times, the UNLF is resorting to misleading the people and added that one Sgt Maj of the outfit, Lukram Meeteingamba was killed in a shoot out between the outfit and AR and Army on December 11 and not in a landmine blast.

As a principle, security force never resort to planting IEDs , said the PRO and accused the underground outfits of spreading false propaganda.

UNLF men held : Troops of Maratha Light Infantry and Imphal West police arrested two UNLF cadres yesterday at about 4.30 pm during a search operation at Awang Jiri Mayai Leikai, said the IGAR (S) PRO.

The two have been identified as Ratikanta Pukhrambam alias Babocha (22) of Nambol Phoijin and L Brajamani of Awang Jiri Mayai Leikai.
