Claiming that certain organizations are making all out effort to disturb normal academic atmosphere All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) threatened on strong agitation if the State Government fail to publish rectified text books for class I till V within the deadline of February 20.A press release of the student body reiterating its continuing endeavor to ensure quality education in the State through implementation of the common syllabus and common text books in between class I till VII from the previous session decried attempts from certain quarter to draw mileage from the present impasse of alleged error filled text books published by BSEM.
When ever flaws are detected seminar/workshops with active participation of scholars, parents etc are being organized to eradicate errors there should be no reason why the present text books should not be implemented through similar course, AMSU asserted.
AMSU will face all challenges posed by vested interests to scuttle the process for ushering in an era of quality education, affirmed the body.
On demand for resignation of SCERT Minister and concerned department heads, AMSU cited violation of the June 13, 2003 MoU signed between AMSU and State Government wherein State bureaucrats exercised official immunity to constitute State Level Committee on Curriculum and Syllabus.
In addition to violating the MoU details of the inquiry instituted against the SCERT has yet to the publicize amounting to delaying tactics, said AMSU adding that taking advantage of the situation some vested interests have begun to chalk out strategies to impede smooth implementation of prescribed text books.
