All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU), Singjamei branch has denounced the alleged attempt being made from certain quarters to blow the text books issue out of proportion and said it is very unfortunate for the student community.
In a statement signed by its information and publicity secretary Sanjoy Naorem, AMSU branch lashed out at the detractors for making a bonfire of the 'errors-filled' text books without ever considering the consequences.
AMSU also took strong exception against the assertion of some that the errors were known even when the books were at the printing stage Questioning the intention of the detractors, Sanjoy wondered why they did not point out the errors then and take up steps for rectifying them.
Reiterating that the new text books being brought out by Board of Secondary Education, Manipur for class I to V are far more superior inspire bf some errors found in them in its upto date information and regional element content than the ones prescribed earlier, the students' body maintained the hue and cry over the issue as been unnecessarily kicked Up by the detractors.
Branch also pronounced its resolute stand of launching serious agitations if the Government do not fulfilled the demands of AMSU within the time limit set.
Holding SCERT responsible for the present fiasco, AMSU has demanded stepping down of SCERT Minister and SCERT Director in charge from their respective posts on moral ground and action against the text book committee members of SCERT within February 20.
