Intensifying their ongoing agitation, the students of Manipur College of Technology burnt the effigy of their principal within the college campus today.
The agitating students have been demanding re-conduct of the examination of one of the paper of the 8th semester.
The examination of the 8th semester conducted by Manipur University was held from May 30 to June 8.Complaining against the nature of the questions asked in the paper on Design of Concrete Structure-II (CE 481) of Civil Engineering, the students had boycotted the examination.
They alleged that the questions asked were not in consonant with the duration of the time allotted for answering them.
Presenting their case to media persons today, the agitating students informed that altogether five questions were asked in the said paper out of which only four were to be answered with a total mark of 70.But with exception to question no 2, the rest of the questions would require more than 1 hour in writing the answers.
The subject concerned teacher and the Head of Department had approached the principal who in turned approach the Examination Controller of Manipur University for re-conducting the examination of the paid paper.
Despite that a copy of the resolution adopted jointly by Head of Department, college principal, MU Vice Chancellor and Assistant Controller was sent to the college students' union stating that the examinees had been informed by the officer in-charge of the examination to choose only three questions out of the given five.
But the fact is that no such announcement was ever made, the agitating students contended.
