Imphal, July 03:
Sounding a stern warning, the Manipuri Students' Federation has today asked all shopkeepers and businessmen not to hike the price of any commodity by taking advantage of the current economic blockade imposed on the two National Highways.
In a statement issued to the press, the student body said that traders and shopkeepers have been routinely hiking the prices of commodities whenever any such problems arise and added that the time has come for all to work together and root out such evil practices.
The consumers have also been asked to demand a receipt for any purchase made and if they are over charged by any shopkeeper they may contact the nearest MSF branch office or the headquarters at Assembly road.
Consumers may also contact MSF members on mobile numbers 9436082323, 9436082403 and 9436034109.Shopkeepers and traders found over charging the consumers will also be penalised, said the student body adding that the penalty will range from shutting down the shop indefinitely and taking the help of the police to initiate action against the shopkeeper.
