Sadar Hills District Committee, Kangpokpi has decided to defer its proposed 3-day Sadar Hills bandh scheduled to be called from the midnight of July 7 to July 13 due to some inconveniences.
The bandh would be now called with effect from the midnight of July 10 to midnight of July 13.A decision to this effect was taken during a meeting of the Demand Committee yesterday, its general secretary Thangjakam Misao informed in a statement today.
No vehicular traffic would be allowed along National Highway 39 and 53 which fall within the jurisdiction of Sadar Hills and all the schools, shops, bazars and Government offices should remain closed during the bandh.
However, essential services like medical, electricity, water supply, fire brigade and media would be exempted from the purview of the bandh, Misao said.
While appealing to all the transporters' associations, bus and tourist bus associations, passenger jeep and taxi services, leaders, social workers, NGOs and general public for extending their support to the cause, Misao categorically stated that the Demand Committee should not be also held responsible for any untoward incident and damage occurred during the bandh.
