Imphal, July 03:
Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM) has come out strongly against the alleged custodial killing of Jangthang alias Raju (30), an activist of KNF by 14 Assam Rifles.
In a statement, Kim general secretary asserted that Jangthang was killed by the security personnel after he was picked up from his Phalbung village house under Sapermeina police station on the night of June 25 in the presence of his wife and another family member.
The security personnel shot him dead just about 200 metre from his own house and after committing the crime, they came back to the house and forcibly took the signature of his wife on a blank paper, KIM charged.
However, on the following morning, the KIM statement said, the AR authorities claimed through the newspapers that Jangthang was killed during an encounter.
Condemning the custodial killing, KIM pointed out that according to the Constitution of India and other International Laws, nobody has any right or authority to eliminate a person except in accordance with the law.
