Kuki Students' Organization (KSO), All Naga Students' Association, Manipur and All Tribal Students' Union, Manipur today asserted that abduction of Deputy Director (Handloom), Kaphungchung L Kamei by Manipur Human Right Protection Guild on corruption charge is totally unjustifiable and condemnable.
In a joint statement, the three important tribal student organizations, said that corruption is a social menace which cannot be wiped off from the society and corrected by kidnapping individual officer and thereby giving mental torture to him and his family members.
Rather than being taken up by one organization, it is advisable that it be collectively fight by al1 right thinking persons and organizations, the joint statement said.
Earnestly appealing to the abductors, to release Kamei from their custody immediately and without any condition, the tribal students' bodies also called up the Government authority for doing the needful in this regard.
With regard to the allegation levelled on RIMS Director Prof L Fimate by the same organization, the students' bodies also asserted that the charges are totally unfounded and seems to have been done with vested interest.
Meanwhile, expressing serious concern over the well being of abducted Deputy Director of Commerce and Industries Department Kaphungchung L Kamei, All Tribal Women Association, New Lambulane Area; New Lambulane Welfare Committee and Tribal Youth Club, New Lambulane have fervently appealed to Manipur Human Rights Protection Guild (MHRPG) for his safe release from its custody on humanitarian ground.
In separate statements, these organizations urged MHRPG to spare the life of Kamei and give him a chance to rectify his mistakes.
Kamei has been in the custody of the armed ground on alleged charge of misappropriating a large amount of fund meant for development of the people.
Tarung Village Authority, Imphal; Nungsai Village Authority, Nungba; Laimanai Village Authority, Sadar Hills; Endeavour for People, Nungsai and Council of Nungba Sub-Divisions have also appealed to Manipur Human Rights protection Guild for safe and unconditional release of Kamei from its custody at the earliest possible.
