Aftermath of killing of EAC Dipankar Das and a police constable by heavily armed militants suspected to belong to the NSCN-IM near Mangalamukh village under Dhansiri sub-division in Assam's Karbi Anglong district, one more person was killed and three other were injured when they were attacked by miscreants at Deigrun Teron village in upper Deopani area under Bokajan police station in Karbi Anglong district in the wee hours.
According to sources, 15 armed miscreants came to the village in a Shaktiman truck and a Maruti van at 3 am and opened fire on the house of one Borsing Teron, when the family members were fast asleep.
Jiten Teron was killed on the spot and other injured persons have been admitted to the Bokajan Civil Hospital.
Meanwhile, the Asom Jatiayatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) has threatened to impose an "economic blockade" of essential commodities to Nagaland if it continues to pursue with its expansionist designs of forcefully encroaching into Assam�s territory.
In a press release, it has also blamed the Assam Government for long ignoring the plight of the people residing in the areas bordering Assam and Nagaland and has asked the Government to immediately settle the border dispute between the two States.� The Karbi Students� Association (KSA)-sponsored economic blockade is still in force in the hill district, the student activists continue to stop trucks carrying essential items to Nagaland through the NH-39.Nagaland Home Minister T.Lotha, he said, �We have ordered a probe to ascertain if the Isak-Muivah faction of the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN-IM) was involved in the reported attack on a team of Assam government officials and paramilitary troopers in which a magistrate was killed, If the NSCN-IM is involved, it is a serious matter as the group is currently operating a ceasefire with the central government.
We will have to inform the matter to the central government,� Moreover, such incidents of ceasefire violations could jeopardize the peace talks, he added.
Meanwhile, NSCN (IM) deputy kilonser (minister), K Chawang, in a release here, said dragging NSCN into the incident was nothing but a greater conspiracy to sabotage the �Indo-Naga� peace talks.
