Imphal, July 06: A young Muslim woman who has reportedly been having an affair with a married man for the past three months was found hung to death under mysterious circumstances at Ngariyan Muslim Village under Yairipok Police Station this morning.

The deceased woman is identified as Sanahanbi Sahni (22), daughter of Md Sanatomba of Ngariyan Muslim Village.

She was reportedly staying at her parental home for the last two years after a failed marriage to a man from Toupokpi.

Sanahanbi allegedly had illicit affairs with one Md Rahaman (28) of the same village, for the last three months or so.

Rahaman is a married man and father of four children.

According to reports, Sanahanbi and Rahaman were caught red-handed from the house of one Md Ethem by the local people yesterday.

But after hoodwinking the local people with false promise of accepting Sanahanbi as his wife, Rahaman escaped from the scene.

Stung by the humiliation, Sanahanbi refused to go to her house and stayed at Ethem's house.

However, at around 6.30 pm, Rahaman reportedly came to Sanahanbi and both of them fled from there.

On getting the information, the local meira paibis searched all over village till late night for the absconding lovers, but could not find them anywhere.

It was early morning today, Sanahanbi was found hanging from the branch of a Guava tree grow in the Ingkhol of one Md Tomba, with the help of the Inaphi she had worn.

Yairipok Police have registered a case in this connection and the body has been handed over to the family members for the last rites after a post-mortem conducted at Lilong PHC today.
