Of the three Commissions of Inquiry set up by the State Government to probe the alleged extra-judicial killings of three Kuki students, K Bimol and one retired teacher, the first hearing is likely to be started in respect of the death of the retired teacher, LD Rengtuiwan of Bungte Chiru village.
Some villagers of Bungte Chiru turned up before the panel headed by retired Judge C Upendra Singh and assured that they would submit the necessary affidavits and Vakalatnamas very soon, said sources in the Commission.
Rengtuiwan was shot dead by Assam Rifles personnel at his Bungte Chiru village residence on November 16, 2004.Meanwhile, the police authorities have issued summons to the police personnel involved in killing of three Kuki students at KR Lane near New Checkon on October 25 for co-operating in the inquiry, source added.
The Commission has already sought relevant FIRs and post-mortem reports in connection with the three inquiries from the SPs of Imphal East and Bishnupur districts.
Vakalatnamas in respect of the deceased Bimol�s mother and the JAC formed in connection with the killing have already been submitted before the probe panel.
K Bimol of Moirang was allegedly killed by commandos of Imphal East District at Nongren on December 29.Since Bungte Chiru probe involved Central forces, it may take a longer time to complete its hearing than the other two cases, sources opined.
Sources informed that the Commission is totally handicapped in communicating with all the related parties because of non-issuance of telephone by the Government.
Owning to non-availability of telephone, people from distant places had to come physically for any matter before the Commission, the source elucidated.
Besides this, there has been acute shortage of man power to assist the office of the panel probe.
