Imphal, January 17:
Referring to the attack carried out on a convoy of Indian security personnel near the camp set up by the Indian army at Tuilaiphai in Henglep sub-division of Churachandpur district yesterday, the proscribed UNLF today said the attack was carried out to convey the message to the visiting GOC-in-C that the UNLF can carry out any attack anywhere and at any time against the Indian security force.
On the other hand the successful attack has also nullified the tall claims of the Indian army that the UNLF cadres are on the run.
The booby trap destroyed the truck carrying the troops beyond redemption, said the outfit in a statement and claimed that ten security personnel were killed on the spot.
Heavy guns were also used in the attack.
That the attack was carried out at a spot very near their camp clearly rings out the message that the UNLF can strike out any time at will against the Indian security force, claimed the statement further.
The attack was a fitting wel- come given to the GOC-in-C, it added.
