Dimapur, January 18:
The Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) lambasted Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio led Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government for the spate in incidents of violence in the state.
Taking a dig at the government for its total failure on the law and order front, the NPCC in a press communiqu issued by its president Hokheto Sumi while pointing out slogans in NPF banners against killings reminded the ruling DAN government that it was the latters sole responsibility to provide peace and security to the lives and properties of the citizens.
It observed if the NPF was at all sincere and committed to its slogan it should have contained the law and order situation in the land by bringing the culprits to book.
On DANs all tall claims, it said, twenty-two months under DAN was a long duration to show some sign of development.
Economic resolutions are also nothing new to the people.
Naga people want to see action on development but not in the newspapers alone".
Meanwhile, the NPCC expressed gratitude to Congress-led UPA government at the Center and its leaders for upgrading the Naga political process from bureaucratic level to political level by accepting the plea made by the former.
The NPCC said it would leave no stone unturned in pursuing the leadership in Delhi to peacefully settle the Naga political problem at the earliest.
Resolutions of political parties may differ from one another depending on the philosophy and wisdom of its leaders and under given circumstances, it said.
However, this time round, we are glad to come across the political resolutions adopted by the Nagaland Peoples Front (NPF) at its 2nd General Convention held in Dimapur recently which was more or less a carbon copy of the Congress' stand".
Pointing out that it was the Congress government that had thrice passed resolutions in the state Assembly on integration with the fourth being passed in 2003; the communiqu said Congress was always vocal on the issue of integration on the basis of clause 13 of the 16-Point Agreement of 1960.The communiqu said, It is a history set by the Congress and retold by the Nagaland Peoples Front, while welcoming the resolutions of NPF.
Political settlement with honor and acceptable to all sections of the Nagas has always been the main concern of the Congress and it never stood on its way.
