Regional parties in the state have started uniting in order to put up a strong regional front in the next year's MP election, disclosed former Chief Minister W Nipamacha president of Manipur National Conference.
Talking to mediapersons today at his Wangoi residence, the former Chief Minister asserted that the regional parties will be successful only if they fight the election united and under a common agenda and added that the national parties would not stand a chance against the regional parties if they fight the election under a common front.
Answering to a query, Nipamacha stated that he would not be standing for the election in the coming MP election next year and added that his party has not decided whether his party would be fighting the elections in collusion with the Congress party.
He however added that MNC would never merge with any of the political parties.
Commenting on the allegation that he and a group of men in an inebriated state had caused a scene on August 6 at Wangoi Bazar resulting in an injury to one Moirangthem Mani, Nipamacha clarified that the allegations were false and baseless and had been done with the intention to tarnish his image.
He added that a defamation suit will be filed against Moirangthem Mani.
Body formed: An Umbrella organization of KNF, UKLF and KRA called the Kuki National Council has been formed to solve the long standing political demand of the Kukis, informed a statement of the newly formed KNC.
