Imphal, August 09:
The Khoupum Area Farmers' Welfare Association (KAFWA) deplored the apathetic attitude of the State Government, which it alleged has resulted in failure of Khoupum Dam project and its irrigation canals for the last 25 years.
Except for one muster roll employees, there is no staff looking after the project.
The Assistant Engineer and the Section Officer appointed for the purpose have deserted the project for the last many years.
Association secretary M Poudiatlung lamented in a press statement today.
Informing that the Khoupum Dam and Irrigation Canals placed as subdivisions No.2 under Singda Dam Division of IFCD had been provided with a regular and eight muster roll employees, the Association rued that there is only one muster roll now who is looking after the daily affairs of the project.
