Guwahati, April 08:
The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) has reiterated its right to establish Assam as an independent country was the fundamental human right of the Assamese nation and other ethic communities of Assam. In his address on the occasion of the 25 Foundation Day of ULFA on Wednesday, ULFA Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa described as birthright the freedom of Assam.
To establish this birthright, he stressed the importance of the Assamese peoples continued struggle to reach the goal (birthright) even for thousand years if situation demanded for.
Stating that 25 years was not a long time to achieve their national goal, the ULFA Chief said, We have always wanted to resolve the conflict peacefully (with India). However, the Government of India hadnt dared yet to sit face-to-face with us to discuss our issue to resolve the Assamese-India conflict peacefully, he regretted.
If India is sincere in real democracy, she must organize the referendum for the Assamese nation and all other ethnic groups on the question of independence of Assam, Rajkhowa asserted adding the Government of India was yet to show its sincere willingness to resolve the Assam-India conflict politically.
Offering his revolutionary salute to all who took part in their struggle for the last 25 years to liberate their motherland from the clutches of Indian occupation, the ULFA Chief sent greetings to all members of NSCN, UNLF, RPF, TPDF, NDFB, ADF, KLO, NLFT, ANVC and HALC and also countries, international organizations and foreign friends who had provided their support towards their liberation struggle.
We stand for the greater interest of establishing revolutionary unity and mutual co-relation among us and hope that these fraternal revolutionary organizations will extend the same cordial cooperation in future as before, he stated.
The ULFA Chief further disclosed that some people who had no faith on indigenous people of Assam expressed that if the referendum was held; all people of Assam would not be able to take part united in the referendum due to communal and ethnic clashes.
It is a non-historical conception, Rajkhowa pointed out asking Is there any record of planting poison of mistrust and suspicion in our society and culture by the colonial rulers for 177 years? This opportunity has been taken (Away) to keep the people of Assam under slavery for ever, he rued.
He urged the people of Assam to remember how they stood united against the common enemies at times of national emergencies, particularly in the last infamous Saraighat Battle,, at the time of national division with religion-based nation state formation and also while attempting to merge Assam with Bengal.
The ULFA Chief also came down heavily on the India-Bhutan for their joint military operations against his organization, NDFB and KLO.
He wondered as to how the two nations that believed in democracy and Buddhism had kept their three senior members.
The Bhutan Government had even denied access to independent humanitarian bodies like ICRC, Amnesty International and continued to carry on the unchecked violation of rights of Assamese people seeking humanitarian relief on the Assam-Bhutan border. By doing these joint Indo-Bhutan operations against them, Rajkhowa said India seemed to believe that she would be able to crush our national liberation struggle. Besides, India would spread various propagandas to mislead the international community.
Asserting the people of Assam would give birth to ULFA again and again till the history and social consciousness remained intact in the minds of them, the ULFA Chief said, Revolutionaries never die meaningless, but embrace martyrdom to inspire thousands more. He also appealed to Assamese people living throughout the world to unite firmly and extend their full support and cooperation to their national liberation struggler.
