The construction of the temporary market sheds to facilitate re-construction of the three markets at the Thoubal district would be completed within December, PDA chairman and MLA K Ranjit Singh has assured.
The three markets of the district are to be reconstructed under the funding of Union Ministry of Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation.
The PDA Chairman accompanied by concerned Engineers of the PDA today inspected the progress of the construction work of the three temporary markets shed at Mutum Babu Bazar, Thoubal Mela Ground and Wangjing at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakhs.
The 80 percent of the work has been completed and the temporary markets would be ready by December, the MLA said.
The temporary market shed being constructed at Mutum Babu Bazar at an estimated cost of Rs 25 lakhs would have 13 stalls and 3 vegetable vendor stalls.
Moreover, the building of the local club has been affected in the proposal for the expansion and reconstruction of the market, the Govt has also agreed to construct a new building of the club elsewhere.
So far 80 percent of the work on the temporary market shed has been completed.
For shifting the women vendors of the Thoubal Bazar, the temporary market shed at Thoubal Mela ground is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1.7 crores, for which 60 percent of the work has been completed so far.
There would be in all 92 stalls and 29 vendor sheds to accommodate 720 women vendors.
