Imphal, October 02:
Just one day after the UNLF announced its decision to ban KCP (P), the KYKL too has followed suit and banned KCP (P) on a number of charges.
In a statement issued to the press today, KYKL said that KCP grew from the seeds sown by the Meitei State Committee which consisted of the followers and colleagues of Hijam Irabot.
Before the founding father of KCP, Y Ibohanbi was killed by the Indian security force in 1996, KCP was a respected revolutionary organisation.
However after Ibohanbi's death, KCP has been ridden by factional fighting with each group singing a different tune with one group stating that there is unity while another group comes out with a contradictory stand.
Even today there 4/5 factions of the KCP and there is no sign that there will be any improvement, KYKL observed.
On top of this some elements who have nothing to do with the KCP have also emerged as a faction of the KCP.
This is a dangerous trend that needs to be stopped, said KYKL.
Such groups are nothing but a group of extortionists, killers and terrorisers of people and KCP (P) is one such group, said KYKL.
KCP (P) exists only in name and no one seems to know the persons behind this group.
The chairman, secretary still remain incognito and so is the publicity secretary.
Press statements are issued under a ghost name, said KYKL and though there is no finance secretary, individuals do turn up to collect the money demanded.
To pass off as a revolutionary organisation, KCP (P) has been announcing the ban on consumption of intoxicants, charged KYKL.
Giving some details, KYKL said that the KCP (P) by donning the mask of revolutionaries have been framing charges against doctors to extract money.
The charges are never substantiated and the KCP (P) remains silent once the money demanded is coughed up.
The Manipuri digital films which are progressing and catching the attention of other communities in the North East are also in danger of being given a quiet burial by the KCP (P), said the statement.
KCP (P) has been playing a joke on the people, said KYKL and explained that one day they will announce that the ban on digital films has been relaxed while the next day they will change their tune and say the ban is still.
On the third day again they contradict themselves.
This is an instance of playing some mean jokes on the people, it observed.
On the other hand it is also wrong to totally ban all films.
Is everyone free to do anything by taking on the name of revolutionaries? asked KYKL.
Is it right to ban all films without giving any room to make some changes, added KYKL.
The statement further said that the Manipuri films today are beginning to reflect local flavour and mentioned the names of world renowned theatre personalities like Ratan Thiyam, Kanhailal, Sabitri.
Though these personalities may have adapted certain outside influence, it should not be forgotten that Manipuri films have shown that the students too have it in them to better what they have learnt from their masters.
Those who do not know what films are all about will not know this point, said KYKL.
However this does not mean that there is no room for improvement in Manipuri films, said KYKL and added that there is still the need to make films firmly based on our tradition and culture.
There is always room to produce another Kanhailal in the world of Manipuri films, said KYKL and added that it would be totally wrong to ban films such as Matamgi Manipur, Ishanou, Sanakeithel, Imagi Ningthem, Ollangthagi Wangmadasu, Thengmallabra Radhamanbi, Chatledo Eidi, Khongchat, Nokphade.
Even today Manipur film compare reasonably well with Nepali, Bengali, Assamese, Burmese and Bhojpuri films, said KYKL.
Taking all these into considerations, the decision of the KCP (P) to ban Manipuri digital films is nothing but to kill the fledgling film industry in Manipur, maintained KYKL.
Not only this, the KCP (P) too has been extorting money and intimidating the people under the mask of revolutionaries.
Such conduct shows that they are reactionaries, said the statement.
UNLF did the right thing in banning the KCP (P), said KYKL and added that it has also received many complaints against the KCP (P).
The KCP (P) may portray the image of taking up social issues, but all these are done so that it can extort money, garner contract works which is nothing but to build up a mafia organisation.
The decision to ban KCP (P) was taken after months of investigating, said KYKL and added that if anyone is found associated with the group, they will be awarded capital punishment.
KYKL also warned all those associated with the KCP (P) to snap all ties with the outfit.
