The Chandel district Unit of Lok Janshakti (LJP) has been formed during a function held at H Kotlamphao village community hall, Pallel yesterday.
Ex-chairmen of Tengnoupal Autonomous District Council Ngamching Moyon, Chairman of Tengnoupal Block Development Planning Committee Ringai Maring and vice president of State unit LJP and ex-Minister M Chungkhosei Haokip graced the function as chief guest, of honour and functional president respectively.
In his address, Ngamching Moyon expressed confidence that LJP would do well in the coming Assembly election.
Ringai Maring exhorted that newly elected executive members of Chandel unit of the party to perform their duty sincerely.
M Chungkhosei Haokip assured that gathering that LJP would be working whole-heartedly to bring about emotional integration among the hill and valley people of Manipur.
Spelling out other agendas of the party, he mentioned initiation of unconditional talks with the underground outfits, strengthening of the intelligence agencies, promotion and marketing of products of small and cottage industries, to ensure optimum utilisation of Central fund, better transport system, establishment of adequate health care centres, simplification of laws governing financial aids to ST/SC and other people living below poverty line, rural employment and free elementary and secondary education for all by 2010.The function also elected a 15-member executive body head by James Manpa as president and Tangkhohao Guite as secretary (organisation).
