Imphal, August 31:
Manipur Transport Joint Co-ordinating Committee has decided to stop all passenger services from September 3 if the State Govt does not make arrangement for supplying adequate diesel to the transporters within the next two days.
In a statement, general Secy of the Committee Ng Haridas Singh said that the transporters have not been getting adequate diesel since the Govt announced the restoration of open sale of diesel and petrol in the oil pumps.
The difficulty of the transporters was not as acute as it was during the eco-nomic blockade while the diesel was being issued through permit system.
Infact the stock of the fuel had gradually improved.
But the August 25 announcement of the Govt for open sale of diesel through the oil pumps, the transporters have not been getting adequate fuel, Haridas said.
He contended that most of the oil pumps remain open for only 1 to 2 hours during the day and the oil pumps always responded that the stock had been finished.
