Imphal, August 31:
Manipur Students Federation (MSF) has decried the alleged discriminatory attitude of the State Govt to- ward the teachers by releasing the salary for some of them while withholding the same for the others in the pretext of verifying fake appointment.
In a statement, MSF joint secretary M Jasobanta said that the verification of the fake appointment is only a sham to save the face of the Government.
The issue of fake appointment in the Education Dept is not of recent origin.
Nevertheless the decision of the Govt to clean up the rot that has eaten into the education system only this time is appreciable.
However, it is becoming clear that the steps being taken up not really intended to pull up the culprits but to protect them at the cost of the genuine teachers.
The officials involved in the fake appointment racket and the teachers who have been appointment on the sly could be detected only after the verification work is entrusted to a committee which could work independently and impartially, the students body observed.
The Government should stop victimising the genuine teachers as it would have the direct impact on the careers of the students.
The studentsbody also come out strongly against the police action on the agitating teachers.
Assn clarifies: All Manipur Govt Hr Sec Lecturers Welfare Assn has clarified that it is not part of the ongoing agitation being launched by the school teachers demanding payment of their pending salaries.
In a statement, Assn informed that it had already resolved not to take up any sort of agitation at the time of announcement of verification of service records of the teachers to detect fake appointments.
However, some of the graduate teachers might be taking part in the agitation for their own personal interest, it added.
