Imphal, August 31:
Serious doubts have been raised over the fairness of the promotion process of Riflemen to the post of Havildar for which the DPC has been held.
Talking to The Sangai Express a well placed source said that there is growing suspicion and doubts that favouritism may be deciding factor in the DPC result.
The source said that one particular candidate who does not fulfil any of the criteria for promotion is in line to be promoted by producing insufficient turn out documents.
There is an overwhelming sense of confusion in the promotion on the basis of turn out of Riflemen to Havildar in the MR and IRB, said the source and explained that turn out certificates have been issued to personnel who have never taken part in any encounter are in any operation leading to the arrest of militants and recovery of arms.
The source also questioned why excess candidates were selected in the PPST examination if all the passed candidates are not be considered for promotion.
If the promotion is to be based solely on the basis of seniority then only the seniors should be made to appear for the PPST examination, reasoned the source further.
The inconsistent policy adopted by the Home Dept has demoralised the jawans who have been dispensing with their duties sincerely all these years, said the source.
