Imphal, August 31: Stepping up its drive against drug abuse and alcoholism, activists of United Women�s Assn Against Drug Abuse and Alcoho-lism rounded up a woman peddler along with SP tablets from Khwairamband bazar at around 2.30 pm yesterday.

The woman peddler has been identified as Yumkhaibam Thoibi (27) w/o late Md Abo of Khergaon Sabal Leikai, but presently staying at Khergaon Makha Yumkhaibam Leikai.

Informing this while talking to mediapersons at the Keishampat office of the Association this afternoon, Association convenor M Ibetombi said more than 100 youngsters who are in the habit of taking drugs have been rounded up between March and July and learnt that Thoibi has been supplying the drugs to them.

Acting on this information, a mobile team of the Association has been laying in wait to arrest Thoibi and succeeded in the mission yesterday, she said.

After giving proper advice Thoibi has confessed to her misdeeds and promised to stay away from her earlier business of selling illegally but extend her full co-operation with the Association in rooting out the evil of drug me-nace from the Manipuri society, Ibetombi informed.
